This beautiful piece was manufactured in the early 1900s by the Edward J. Owen Company, in business from 1902-1932 when the Great Depression forced them to close down. Their Hallmark includes Gold Medal St. Louis as they wine a gold medal at the state fair on porcelain and began using this stamp as part of their hallmark. The mug has a portrait photo of a woman who appears to be carrying a basket of apples. Picture is on both sides and it has a fancy raised relief base design as well as handle design. Color is an off white with shades and accents of brown with gold painted trim. Hallmark is pictured in photo. There is one small area where a tiny bit of white shoes just above where the gold trim begins at top of base. It is not a chip and does not feel like it has any finish that has come off. It may be a flaw in original firing? Please zoom in for greater detail.
