The ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System), issued since 1986, was developed as part of a layering system to cope with various climates and temperatures by layering as needed. These are overall-style pants made of military POLARTEC fleece material, often used by US special forces in the Afghan guerrilla sweep operations, and are also often seen used alone.

When worn alone, the length is slightly shorter than regular pants because they are liners, so you can wear them in good balance by extending and adjusting the suspenders. Of course, in cold seasons like midwinter, you can experience the best cold protection by wearing them as thermal liners under pants or over pants like overalls.

The front has a double-slider zipper fly, the suspenders are made of elastic rubber and stretch moderately, and can be attached and detached with FASTEX buckles only on the front side. The sides have a full-open type double zip that opens and closes with zippers, so you can fully open the sides, wear them with only the hem open, or take them on and off without removing your boots, making them a highly versatile design.

POLARTEC (Polartec) is used for the material. It is made by knitting polyester fibers using a special technique, dyeing, brushing, and heat-treating them to produce a lightweight material with excellent breathability, heat retention, and durability.
