Author's note: Originally published in serial form on my BlueSky platform, Vacation In A Capsule is presented in 133 "chaplets" of 500-550 words each, detailing the fateful voyage of the exploratory starship Homestead. The vessel runs its mission on its own, but 12 passengers have been granted the privilege of buying vacation slots as sightseeing witnesses to history, because Homestead expects to find proof of intelligent life in the nearby stars. The trip will end up taking them far beyond the local group, into the center of the galaxy, through a black hole and all the way to intergalactic space. Of course, not everyone will make it that far. But the ones that do will be changed forever.
