Description
Vintage Chinese carved jade (stone) figure depicting Xi’er, the heroine from The White-Haired Girl ballet, a well-known subject in mid-20th-century Chinese revolutionary art.
The figure is carved in pale green translucent stone with fine detailing to the facial features, hair, and flowing costume. Xi’er is shown in a dynamic, triumphant pose, characteristic of Cultural Revolution–era sculptural works.
